Snow Emergency & Parking Ban 1/30/2019

The City of Northampton has declared a Snow Emergency, effective Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 12:01AM.  It remains in effect until cancelled and may last more than one night. During a snow emergency, parking on all City streets and in City parking lots is prohibited from 12:01 AM to 6:00 AM, except on Main Street, where parking is prohibited from 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM. Those found in violation of the parking ban will be ticketed and towed. Parking is allowed during other hours. The Armory Street parking lot is open for overnight use during snow emergencies, except from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to allow for plowing

The City also posts all snow emergencies and parking bans to its Facebook (City of Northampton) and Twitter (@NorthamptonMA) accounts. Alerts are also prominently displayed on the www.northamptonma.gov website at the top of the page.

City Ordinance 285-17 requires property owners to clear all sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours after a snowstorm, including the curb cut to the street. Failure to do so may result in a $50 fine.
