ValleyBike Share
ValleyBike is the first bike share program in the Pioneer Valley and the first pedal-assist bike share program in New England. The pedal assist allows bike share to the majority of users who don’t tend to use bike share and be more equitable about who is served.
ValleyBike allows members to pay for bikes by the trip, or join as a member for unlimited 45 minute rides by the day, month, or year.
The program is a partnership between Northampton, Holyoke, Amherst, Springfield, the University of Massachusetts, South Hadley and the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission. The program will consist of 50 bike share stations across the five communities involved, where people will be able to rent bikes. These stations serve as both locking devices and charging stations for the pedal-assist bikes, which can use electricity to help people bike more easily.

- Oxbow Marina is privately owned, 300-slip and provides docks, a boat ramp, and boating events.
- Elwell Recreation Area on Damon Road at Route 9 and Interstate 91 (part of the Connecticut River Greenway State Park) provides canoe and rowing access to the Connecticut River including a paved access ramp to a wheelchair accessible dock on the river.
- Oxbow Ramp on Route 5 on the Easthampton / Northampton boundary offers a paved ramp, customarily used by high powered recreational craft and larger fishing boats.
The river is also home to crew teams from area colleges and the Northampton Youth and Community Rowing program, which enrolls rowers from 15 - 65 years of age and over.
