Highway Division Updates
- Last week, the Highway Division:
- Repaired potholes on Bradford Street, Matthew Drive and Tara Circle
- Removed, repaired and/or replaced signs on Bottums Road and Clement Street
- Responded to snow event
- Refilled sand barrels throughout the City
- Lovefield Street remains closed
- Annual ward street sweeping operations will resume in the spring
- To report a pothole, please submit a request via the Pothole Repair Form; the largest potholes are filled first to alleviate hazards to vehicles; as hazards arise and are identified, they will be addressed
- To report an issue with a traffic sign, please submit a request via the Traffic Sign Issue Form
Dryads Green Extension Drainage & Slope Improvements
- The City has contracted with Geeleher Enterprises Inc. to construct drainage and slope improvements from the end of Dryads Green Extension to the Mill River; work also includes roadway drainage improvements
- The project is substantially complete
- Snow storage should be avoided at the dead end so as not to compromise slope integrity
- Public Works will be on-site continuing post-construction observations throughout the winter
I-91 Bridges over Route 5, the Railroad and Hockanum Road
- MassDOT has contracted with J.F. White, Inc. to construct roadway improvements to I-91 and at Exit 23 (formerly Exit 18)
- The project will replace the I-91 bridges over Route 5, the Railroad and Hockanum Road and construct safety and signal improvements at the exit interchange
- The project is scheduled to be completed in phases by 2025
- I-91 southbound:
- Daytime right lane closure Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for site access
- Daytime right lane closure Tuesday this week, from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., to erect and bolt bridge steel
- I-91 northbound:
- No traffic impacts are anticipated this week
- Route 5:
- Daytime shoulder closures Monday through Friday this week, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for concrete & slope work; motorist should be alert and use caution as trucks will be entering and exiting the work zone; a police detail will assist with traffic control
- Hockanum Road:
- Daytime road closure Tuesday and Wednesday this week, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., to erect and bolt bridge steel; a detour (pdf) will be in place; a police detail will assist with traffic control

Loudville Road
- The City has contracted with Geeleher Enterprises Inc. to install a catch basin and drain pipe on Loudville Road in the vicinity of 81, 83 and 85 Loudville Road to address roadway drainage issues
- Work will begin this week and may require a daytime road closure; a police detail will assist with traffic control
Winter Street Reconstruction
- The City has contracted with Caracas Construction Corporation for the full depth reconstruction of Winter Street, including water & sewer mains and service connections and sidewalks
- The project is substantially complete
- Public Works and/or the Contractor will be on-site continuing post-construction inspections throughout the winter
