FRIDAY: A worldwide perspective
- US residents enjoy easy access to clean, affordable drinking water. In the US, 99% of the nation has access to an improved water supply that is safely managed. While residents of Germany and the Netherlands are similar, other countries have less access: 98% in Canada, 96% in the UK, 93% in France and only 43% in Mexico do.
- Worldwide, 263 million people travel at least 30 minutes round trip to collect drinking water from an “improved source” (as opposed to raw water taken directly from rivers, lakes, etc).
