DUNS Number

All recipients of CDBG funding must provide their free DUNS numbers from Dun & Bradstreet Corporation. This is a unique nine-digit identification number for each physical location of your business. Getting a number can take up to three business days after you apply, and the application can be found on Dun & Bradstreet website. A step-by-step guide can be viewed here. If you do not know if your business already has a DUNS number, you can search on this site.

The Federal Government will transition away from from DUNS number to the New Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) on April 4, 2022. This will not affect the 2022-2023 CDBG funding cycle and all current organizations with a DUNS number will be sent their new UEI by the Federal government. No action by current DUNS registered organizations needs to take place. For 2023-2024 CDBG applications, the UEI will be required. More information on the transition can be found on the GSA website.
