2021 IN-PERSON EARLY VOTING

This year Early Voting for all Wards and Precincts will take place at the SENIOR CENTER at 67 Conz Street.

2021 MAIL-IN VOTING

On July 29, 2021 Governor Baker signed Chapter 29 of the Acts of 2021, which contains provisions to extend early voting by mail for elections held between now and December 15, 2021.

Vote-By-Mail is available to all registered voters in Massachusetts. You do not need an excuse to vote by mail for Northampton's September 28, 2021 Preliminary Election or the November 2, 2021 Municipal Election. Voters can complete an application or submit any form of written communication to request a ballot, which must include your signature.

How to Apply to Vote By Mail:

APPLICATION DEADLINES:
  • For the September 28th Preliminary: September 22nd at 5PM.
  • For the November 2nd Election: October 27th at 5PM.
  1. Download a Vote By Mail Application
    • If you need an application mailed to you, you may contact the Elections Division at 1-800-462-VOTE (8683) or elections@sec.state.ma.us or you may contact our office directly.
  2. Complete the Vote By Mail Application
  3. Return the completed application using one of the following methods:
    • Email: voting@northamptonma.gov
      • Applications signed with a mouse, stylus, or finger are acceptable; typed signatures are not.
    • Mail:
      • Northampton City Clerk
        210 Main St., Room 4
        Northampton, MA 01060
    • In-Person to City Hall Drop box (labeled GREY box below City Hall front steps) or the City Clerk's Office service window inside the building .
  4. Your ballot will arrive by mail. Ballots will be ready for mailing approximately 2-3 weeks before the election. Follow all instructions included with your ballot.

How to Return your Ballot:

  1. Mail:

    • If mailing, you must allow time for your ballot to be received in the City Clerk's office by Election Day.
  2. In-Person to City Hall Drop box (labeled GREY box below City Hall front steps) or the City Clerk's Office service window inside the building. Ballots must be received by the City Clerk's Office by the close of polls.
