Northampton Girls Youth Lacrosse

Updates for the 2020 Season

The spring girls lacrosse league will have a postponed start date due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Please email John Knowles ( if you have any questions.  Updates will be sent to parents and guardians as soon as possible.

The Northampton Girls Youth Lacrosse League (NGYL) was founded in the spring of 2001 and is administered by the Northampton Parks and Recreation Department (NPRD).  NGYL competes in the Western Massachusetts Girls Lacrosse League(WMGLL), and fields teams at three divisional age levels: Bantam (3rd/4th graders), Junior (5th/6th graders), and Senior (7th/8th graders).  Any girl who resides in the city of Northampton, or who attends a Northampton school, or who resides in a neighboring town that is not a member of the WMGLL league may be eligible to play. Residents have priority.

Our Mission:

The mission of NYGL is to increase participation in the game of Lacrosse by providing a safe and enjoyable learning environment for girls to play; to strengthen local athletic programs through early player identification and encouragement; and, to contribute to the growth and development of healthy, well-rounded young women.

Registration on this website and at the Parks and Recreation office began on Monday, February 3rd.  Players may register in person at the NRPD office or online at this website.  If there are enough registered players to field more than one team at any level, the NPRD will determine team rosters.

  • Some divisions are full. Please put your name on the waitlist through our online registration below, or call or email the office.  We will attempt to add another team if there enough registrations.

Coaches Needed!

Coaches are needed at all three levels: Bantam (3rd/4th graders), Junior (5th/6th graders), and Senior (7th/8th graders).  You do not need to know lacrosse to coach.  Coaches are given pre-season on-line training and there are other resources NGYL can can provide parents to learn more about girls youth lacrosse.  Please contact the Northampton Parks and Recreation Department if you are interested.

Please direct all questions about the NGYL program to: or call at 413-587-1040.
