CITY OF NORTHAMPTON ENDS WATER USE RESTRICTION
The water use restriction for users of the Northampton Public Water Supply is lifted effective immediately.
Today, Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Matthew Beaton issued a declaration that the Connecticut River Valley drought level be changed from a Drought Advisory to Normal Condition. The declaration came as a result of a recommendation issued Tuesday by the MA Drought Management Task Force, comprised of state and federal officials, and other entities.
This action by the state allows the Northampton Department of Public Works (DPW) to lift the water use restriction that was required under the terms of the city’s Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Water Management Act permit.
The City of Northampton appreciates the efforts water users have made to comply with the ban on non-essential water use.
