Flu season 2017/2018 is fast approaching. The Public Health Nurse will be coordinating clinics throughout the community starting in mid-September. Dates and locations are to be determined.
Vaccines are free to those who attend, though we ask you to bring your insurance and/or medicaid card so we may bill your insurance for administrative costs. This reimbursement helps subsidize the Northampton Public Health Vaccine program and ensures clinics can continue for years to come.
The flu poses a greater danger than the common cold. It can lead to serious complications and illness, especially among those at high risk. The federal Centers for Disease control and Prevention estimates flu-related deaths ranged from 12,000 to 56,000 since 2010.
If you have questions about the flu clinics, flu vaccine or would like to receive the flu vaccine, contact the Public Health Nurse at the Northampton Health Department at (413) 587-1216.
