Public Works is responsible for the city's wastewater collection and treatment. This includes upwards of 90 miles of sanitary sewer mains, thousands of manholes and a modern treatment facility providing primary and secondary treatment.
In addition to providing emergency response to broken or blocked sewer lines, routine system maintenance includes inspection of manholes and mains with in-pipe video, odor and rodent control and approval of private connections to the public sewers.
Since the treatment plant has been on line, all
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP) rules and regulations have been satisfactorily met.
