Voting By Mail

Voting by mail is available to all voters for all elections in 2020. You do not need an excuse to vote by mail this year.

How to Vote By Mail:

  1. Download a Vote By Mail ApplicationNOH001-Website-Button-download-app
  2. Complete the Vote By Mail Application
  3. Return the completed application by one of TWO ways:

Application Deadlines:

  • Applications to vote by mail for the State Primary Election must be received by the Northampton City Clerk by Wednesday, August 26, 2020.*
  • Application to vote by mail for the State General Election must be received by the Northampton City Clerk by Wednesday, October 28, 2020.*

*The City of Northampton only requires one application in order to receive BOTH ballots.

How do I return my completed ballot?

Ballots can be returned in one of TWO ways:

  1. BY MAIL: City Clerk's Office, 210 Main St., Room 4, Northampton, MA 01060
  2. IN HAND: Drop-off box located at the front steps of City Hall, 210 Main Street.  Effective Oct. 27, 2020 the drop box will be open from 8:30 am - 8:00 pm.  
    • UPDATE:   IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE DIRECTIVE REGARDING DROP BOXES SECURITY, THE NORTHAMPTON DROP BOX WILL BE CLOSED BEGINNING 12 NOON ON SATURDAY, OCT. 31 AND RE-OPEN AT 12 NOON ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST.  

Ballot Deadlines

  • State Primary ballots must be received by the City Clerk's Office no later than Tuesday, September 1, 2020, by 8:00 p.m.
  • State Election ballots must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, November 3, 2020, and must be received in the City Clerk's Office no later than Friday, November 6, 2020.
