Musante Beach 2020


Thanks to all who came to our facility. We are planning on opening for our 31st Season Saturday May 22, 2021

  • David B. Musante Jr. Beach is located at 85 Reservoir Road in Leeds, MA 01053. 
  • We are open for our 30th season!  We will operate throughout August. 
  • We have various ways to enjoy the beach this summer. Scroll below for fees.
    • Both residents of Northampton and non-residents are welcome, and there are various fee levels for each.
    • Online daily beach spot pre-registration for residents and non-residents purchase is available.  This is for up to 5 people per spot.
    • NEW walk in fee for residents as of July 15: Individual walk-in fee is an option for residents, first-come, first serve, we will have a limited number of spots available each time frame.
    • Group walk-in fee (up to 5 people per spot) for residents and non-residents. First come, first serve.
    • Note this may change as regulations and guidelines change throughout the summer
  • Staff of trained certified lifeguards are on duty to ensure an enjoyable escape from the hot summer days.

Health Guidelines

There are a variety of social distancing, face mask, and guidelines in order to utilize the beach this summer. Please read below for more details. 

Everyone Needs To:

  • Stay home if you are sick, are showing any symptoms or have been exposed to anyone known to have COVID-19.
  • Clean and sanitize your hands often.
  • Maintain 6 feet physical distances, avoid close contact.
  • Wear face mask when not swimming and when out of the reserved beach spot.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.


Due to spacing and capacity restriction this season, we are offering two beach time frames each day. 

  • Times MUST be adhered to.
  • You may arrive and leave anytime during your reserved time. If you are a walk-in, these are the time frames that spots are available. Once you vacate your spot for the day, there will be no re-entry.
    • Morning: 10:30 am - 2:15 pm
    • Afternoon: 2:30 pm - 6:15 pm

Musante Beach Spot Reservations

  • Due to spacing and capacity restrictions this season, we are offering beach spot reservations for residents and non-residents, read below for details.
    • We are required to have spaces on the beach for visitors that are 12’ apart. Therefore we will have designated spots marked off for each reserved spot. 
  • There is a maximum of five (5) people per  12 ‘ x 12’  spot, four people fit more comfortably.
  • Same day reservations need to be made by 9:00 am, and you can also reserve days in advance. There will be two time frames for the day, see below.

Beach Spot Pre-registration Fees for a guaranteed spot
A resident is someone who lives in Northampton, Florence, or Leeds.
Resident -   $15.00/spot (up to 5 people)
Non-Resident -  $20.00/spot (up to 5 people)

  • We encourage you to reserve your spot online before coming in order to guarantee yourself a beach spot. We will accept walk ins for available spots on a first come first serve basis.
  • Reservations can be made at any time, up to 9:00am on the day of reservation.
  • This will guarantee that you have a beach spot for the time and day that you choose. Note this is not refundable.
  • Please note as guidelines and restrictions change, the fee structure may change. 

Individual Walk In Fee
This option is only available to residents.

This is new as of July 15. Note time frames above.

Resident: $5 per person  (up to 3 people)

  • Individual Walk in fees are for Residents of Northampton, Florence or Leeds only
  • We will have a limited number of spots onsite for Resident only Walk-Ins. 
  • First Come, First Serve.
  • Proof of residency is required  - anything with name and address on it. Examples: Drivers License, Car registration, Utility bill, etc. 

Group Walk In Fee

Walk-in is first come, first serve, per the time frames above. 
Resident - $15  (for 3-5 people per spot)
Non-resident - $20 (max 5 people per spot

Lap Swim Only Fee

This is for a person who would like to ONLY swim laps.
Lap swimmers will not be allowed to stay on beach before or after swimming unless beach spot reservation has been made.
Maximum of five lap swimmers at a time, there are no reservations on the lap lane, it is first come first serve.

2020 Musante Beach Rules and Regulations - please read thoroughly

  • Stay home if you are sick, are showing any symptoms or have been exposed to anyone known to have COVID-19.
  • Proof of purchase of the daily pre-registration pass must be brought to the beach when you visit (show on your phone, a print out, etc.). There will be an attendant on duty during all hours that the beach is open. This staff member will check you in and show you to your location on the beach to sit.
  • All patrons MUST follow Sate and Local guidelines regarding physical distancing and wearing face masks when not swimming. You will need to stay in your spot unless you are going into the water, to the bathroom, or leaving the beach.
  • To guarantee a beach spot, beach spot reservations should be made online prior to arrival. Same day reservations need to be made before 9 am. There will be no refunds once a spot is reserved.
  • You may arrive or leave anytime during your designated time slot. Maintain proper physical  distancing when arriving and unloading your personal belongings. Proceed directly to the check in table, show your reservation receipt, (via cell phone or a printed copy) and staff will show you to your designated spot. Once you vacate your spot, there is no re-entry. 
  • Bathroom facilities will be opened. They will be cleaned thoroughly each day.
  • There are no changing facilities.
  • Beach water tests are conducted weekly according to state guidelines.
  • Swim only when a lifeguard is on  duty.
  • Lap swimming area reserved for adult lap swimming only.
  • Obey lifeguard instructions at all times.
  • Patrons need to provide their own life vests that are Coast Guard approved (no floats, noodles, swimmies, etc.)
  • Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
  • Glass containers are not allowed.
  • Children wearing diapers must wear swim diapers or pants that gather at the legs.
  • All children age 5 years and  under or wearing flotation jackets must be directly supervised by an adult.
  • Do not hang or play on ropes.
  • No diving in shallow water or from shoulders.
  • Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted.
  • Do not drink the beach water.
  • We encourage you to carry in/carry out your own trash.

Other Important Guidelines

  • For your safety, please do not feed any wild animals or birds.
  • Our lifeguards are on duty to respond to emergencies and enforce safety rules but parents are ultimately responsible for supervising their children.
