Northampton Girls Youth Lacrosse (NGYL)

The Northampton Girls Youth Lacrosse League was founded in the spring of 2001 and is now a member of the Northampton Parks and Recreation Department.  NGYL competes in the Western Massachusetts Girls Lacrosse League, and fields teams at three divisional age levels.  Any girl who resides in the city of Northampton, or who attends a Northampton school, or who resides in a neighboring town that is not a member of the WMGLL league may be eligible to play.

It is a policy of the Northampton Girls Youth Lacrosse Teams that all players who attend practice are given an opportunity to play in games. For more information please view the NGYL Bylaws on this website.

Our Mission:

Increase participation in the game of Lacrosse by providing a safe and enjoyable learning environment for young women to play.  Strengthen local athletic programs through early player identification and encouragement. Contribute to the growth and development of healthy, well-rounded women.

Registration on this website and at the Parks and Recreation office will begin on Friday, February 1st at 8:30am.  Priority is given to returning NGYL players who must sign up by February 8th.  After the 8th registration will be opened to any new players that do not live in a town that has a WMGLL team.

Most importantly now... we need coaches at all three levels.  Bantam (3rd/4th graders), Juniors (5th/6th graders) and Seniors (7th/8th graders).  You do not need to know lacrosse to coach.  Coaches are given on-line training before the season and there are other resources NGYL can direct parents to learn more about girls youth lacrosse.  Please contact the Northampton Parks and Recreation Department if you are interested or with general questions about the NGYL program, email or call 413-587-1040.
