An annual transfer station permit is required to access the City’s two leaf and yard waste collection sites, which are both located off of Glendale Road. There is no charge to deliver leaf and yard waste, but material must meet the requirements presented below.
Glendale Road Transfer Station, Main Gate 170 Glendale Rd, Northampton, MA 01062 Open: Wednesdays 8AM - Noon and Saturdays 7AM - Noon. Closed on major holidays. In addition to bulky waste and mercury waste, small loads of leaves and grass clippings are accepted at the primary Glendale Road transfer station site during normal operating hours. No brush is accepted at this location.
Glendale Road Transfer Station, Gate 2 This site is also accessed from Glendale Road, just north of the Main Gate entrance. Open: Seasonally (April through November) on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month from 7AM to 3:45PM. Closed on major holidays. This site accepts large loads of yard waste, brush, and leaves.
Leaf and Yard Waste Requirements
Leaves will be accepted loose or in brown paper leaf bags.
Plastic bags and tree stumps will not be accepted.
Small quantities of leaves and clippings may be deposited in the Glendale Road Main Gate area.
Brush must be less than four feet in length and less than six inches in diameter, and must be kept separate from other yard wastes.
