A team of volunteer Northampton residents and the city government are launching a campaign this summer, HeatSmart Northampton, to help Northampton residents and businesses save on their energy bills. Cold climate air source heat pumps are a new highly efficient technology that can heat and cool all or parts of your home or business. Similar to the successful Solarize Northampton campaign, HeatSmart Northampton will bring this technology to Northampton homeowners, landlords and businesses at discounted prices.
Optimized for performance in Massachusetts weather, these new heat pumps can offer a cost-saving, cleaner alternative for those that heat with heating oil, propane, electric baseboards or older natural gas systems. Air sealing and weatherizing a home allows this technology to perform at its highest level of efficiency so HeatSmart Northampton will support these types of improvements as well.

The ener-G-save program will be collaborating this summer with HeatSmart Northampton to help residents and businesses lower energy bills, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and help protect vulnerable residents during heat waves.
Ener-G-save is a program offered by the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation Energy LLC and selected contractors will run ener-G-save, which provides homeowners with thermal images of their homes to show where heat is leaking from. Harold decided to set up ener-G-save to use thermal imaging technology to educate and inspire Pioneer Valley home owners to reduce energy use. Ener-G-save will be running in 9 other local towns this summer as well.
