Join ValleyBike, our electric-assist bike share program!  Northampton (as the lead community for grants and contracts), Amherst, Holyoke, South Hadley, Springfield, UMass, and PVPC (as the pre-launch system planner) launched bike share early summer 2018.


  • promotes green transportation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • promotes economic development including jobs and schools
  • promotes healthy, active living and support recreations use of bikes
  • improves and extends the range of the transit and rail services
  • builds demand for bicycle infrastructure, including bike lanes and bike parking
  • provides visitors and residents with an effective transportation option that is equitable and serves lower income and other traditionally under-served populations
  • creates more livable communities and reduce the need for new areas to be developed for additional parking in our urban core and commercial areas
