Senior and Veteran Tax Work Off Program

The Northampton Senior and Veteran Tax Work Off program takes place from January 1 through October 31 of the calendar year. The program offers senior citizens and veterans work in various city departments including the Arts & Culture Department, Central Services, Health Department, Parks & Recreation Department and Senior Services.

The program is open to seniors age 60 and older, who own property in and reside at the property, and pay real estate taxes to the City of Northampton. View income guidelines for the senior program.

The Veteran Tax Work Off Program is open to veterans (as defined by MGL Ch 4 §7 clause 43), who own property in and reside at the property, and pay real estate taxes to the City of Northampton. Veterans do not have income guidelines.

Participants in either program must complete 125 hours* of service in the program year. Interested seniors and veterans can complete an application online or pick one up in person at the Assessor’s Office, Senior Services or Veterans Services Office. Applications for the upcoming program year will be accepted on a rolling basis as long as spaces are available.
