James House Learning Center

About the James House Learning Center
The James House Community Learning Center located at 42 Gothic Street in downtown Northampton provides adult basic education, GED preparation and testing, English language classes, college and job readiness programs and family literacy programs. The Center for New Americans and The Literacy Project adult basic education programs are located alongside community and four-year college programs in one facility easily accessible by public transportation. Classes are free or low cost for low and moderate income households. The James House Learning Center serves the greater Northampton and central Hampshire County area. 

To strengthen educational and employment opportunities and assist prospective workers, working adults, and youth to advance along educational and career ladders achieving greater family literacy, academic, and employment success. 

The Learning Center is located in a city owned building. Programs are sponsored by the Northampton Community Education Consortium (NCEC), a group of 24 local and regional agencies dedicated to education, workforce development, and self-sufficiency.
