The Environmental Compliance Services Inc., recently opened a new division in Florence providing consulting services to businesses on sustainable business practices. As part of building renovation, installed a geothermal system to heat their new offices and uses the system as a demonstration unit to promote the use of geothermal heating and cooling.
The Smith College constructed a LEED certified science and engineering facility in the new Ford Hall and converted the power plant to a co-generation facility. The college also hired a sustainability officer to promote sustainability best practices campus wide. Stop & Shop
The Stop and Shop reduced plastic bag consumption at the Northampton store by 30% along with cardboard recycling and accepts consumer plastic bags for recycling. Stop and Shop also instituted a food composting program.
The Wright Millwork recently renovated and expanded their woodworking facility in the Northampton Industrial Park including installation of high efficiency lighting and dust extraction equipment.
